• I love you Wile E. Coyote

I am the Road Runner. And I love Wile E. Coyote.

It was my favourite cartoon as a child Wile E. Coyote. Every time it was on, I was glued to the television, trying to understand the insane dynamic existing between Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner.

I couldn’t understand why didn’t Wile order food at ACME, instead of buying yet another contraption in the hope to trap the Road Runner, and what was going to happen if he ever managed to capture the bird? (there is in fact one episode in which Wile E. Coyote manages to capture the Road Runner, and it is highly unsatisfying. But I won’t spoil it for you).

Later on, my passion for Wile E. Coyote unfazed, I understood that there was nothing to be understood and that the goal of the chase was the chase. And then, one day, it occurred to me that maybe things weren’t the way they appeared to be and that maybe there was something different going on between Wile and the Road Runner. This is how I wrote this piece. It contains a few autobiographical elements, like me leaving Berlin with -20 degrees to land in hot +37 of Melbourne, or me working as an interpreter and being in relationships with (aspiring) writers.

I Love You Wile E. Coyote is one of my first audio narrations. It remains one of my favourites.
