I created this story for Small Audio Art, a community created by Phoebe McIndoe with artists and audio makers looking for togetherness in a scattered world.
This audio creation starts from the prompt 'window' and tells a small but poignant story that reflects my own regret over the way I reacted in a specific moment of our collective lives.
I was stuck in my apartment, my only view of the outside world was through the window, where I watched my city become eerily empty. The silence was broken only by the sound of ambulances. Fear and paranoia took hold of everyone, and I remember how even a simple cough from a neighbour filled me with suspicion.
One moment still haunts me: I witnessed something from my window, and instead of feeling joy, I was consumed by anger and judgment.
Now, I’m ashamed of how I reacted. I wish I had embraced that moment of love instead of giving in to fear. Looking back, I see how easily fear distorted my perception, making me forget what really matters—compassion and hope.
